Demon Slayer season 3: speculation about the release date, the cast and the first trailer for Swordsmith Village.

The first trailer for Demon Slayer season 3 is here

The first trailer for Demon Slayer season 3 is now available, along with a new look at the villain who will take on Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu and Nezuko. Exciting, is not it? The next season of the highly anticipated anime could be released as soon as next 12 months, judging by the series’ backstory.

So if you want to get up to date with what we know so far about Demon Slayer season 3, the sequel to one of the best anime series in recent years, keep scrolling. We have got speculation on the release date, a preview of the manga chapters that will be adapted, and much more…

Nothing is official yet, but we can assume that Demon Slayer season 3 will be released in the next 12 months, possibly in early to mid 2023. We had hoped that fall 2022 would be a good possibility, but in the era of COVID, it’s unrealistic to do it that quickly. If that’s the case, a winter or spring release (January-April 2023) or fall 2023 (September-October 2023) could be considered.

Other than that, Ufotable is usually very consistent with its work output. Demon Slayer debuted in fall 2019, while the Mugen Train movie opens in Japan in fall 2020. The Mugen Train recap arc of Demon Slayer for television aired in the fall of 2021. The series of continuous autumn debuts of Demon Slayer might break, but if anyone can do the impossible, it’s Ufotable.

The new trailer shows some footage, which suggests that the production is progressing well, but there is no release date in sight. We can hope for fall 2022, but 2023 is far more likely at this point.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Story: What is the swordsmith village arc?

The Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanoji from the Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc.

Demon Slayer season 3 is officially the Swordsmith Village arc. Do not worry, we will not do any spoilers on the source material here, but we believe it will cover chapters 100-127 of the manga. The Entertainment District arc covered a similar range of 70-99, so this will likely be a 12-episode season again, give or take a few episodes.

If there are no major deviations, Tanjiro should go to the Swordsmith Village to get a new weapon. As luck would have it, the village is home to an ancient weapon. But it’s not all so simple, the story involving the Love and Mist Hashiras and maybe a demon or two.

In addition, the ending of Entertainment District also gave us a hint as to which way the series will likely go after Demon Slayer’s third season. Tengen may no longer be on board, but he’s still alive and kicking. He has told Iguro that his likely Hashira replacement will be Tanjiro. From there, the demon slayers can finally attack their real target: Muzan Kibutsuji.

Tanjiro (Natsuki Hanae), Zenitsu (Hiro Shimono), Inosuke (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) and Nezuko (Akari Kitou) all return as part of the Swordsmith Village arc.

They are joined by two characters we have already seen in the series: the mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and the love Hashira Mitsuri Kanoji. More hashiras will appear in future seasons, as well as members of the Twelve Upper Moons/Twelve Kibuki. One Upper Moon, Doma, is expected to appear in Demon Slayer season 3, and an official sketch of the villain was recently released.

Haruo Satozaki will direct, while Akira Matsushima will be responsible for character design.

The first trailer for Demon Slayer season 3 was recently released. Unfortunately, it mainly serves as a recap of what has happened so far.

However, there are a few glimpses of new material: Love and Mist Hashira are seen separately in the sizzle reel, while a new sword (later wielded by Tanjiro) is made in Swordsmith Village. You can watch it in full above.

Demon Slayer is now available to watch on Crunchyroll. We assume that season 3 of Demon Slayer will be available to stream there as well, especially given the recent merger with Funimation. Netflix users can already stream the first season in some countries.
