The 1st volume comes out this summer
Kodansha Comics announced Thursday that it will release print versions of Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura‘s Blue lock English football manga from the first volume this summer.
Kodansha Comics publishes the manga in English digitally, and it describes the story:
After a disastrous loss at the 2018 World Cup, the Japanese team are struggling to recover. But what is missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to victory. The Japanese Football Union are determined to create a goal-hungry, victory-hungry striker who can be the decisive instrument to overturn a lost game … and to do so, they have brought together 300 of Japan’s best and the brightest young players. Who will emerge to lead the team … and will they be able to outdo anyone who stands in their way?
Kaneshiro and Nomura launched the manga in Shnen Weekly Magazine in August 2018. Kodansha released the 17th compiled corner volume of the manga on December 17. The volumes were printed in more than 4.5 million copies. The manga won the award for best Shōnen manga in Kodanshalast year, the 45th edition of the Manga Awards.
The manga inspires a TV anime that premieres in 2022.
