Game launch on Switch on January 28
Nintendo started running an introductory trailer and commercials for the Pokemon Legends: Arceus Nintendo Change games on Friday. The video presents the gameplay, including environments, driving Pokemon, capture Pokemon, and the Pokédex.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus will launch worldwide for Switch on January 28.
The game will be set in the Hisui region, the older version of the Sinnoh region of the Pokemon diamond and Pokemon pearl Games. Players join the Galaxy Expedition Team’s investigative corps in Jubilife Village to embark on fact-finding trips and search for Pokémon. Players can ride Pokémon and craft items, but are vulnerable to Pokémon attacks while on the field. The game will also include photography and personalization of the trainer.
The game will add the new Pokémon Wyrdeer, an evolution of Stantler; Basculegion, an evolution of Basculin; and Kleavor, an evolution of Scyther. The game will also feature the Hisuan forms of Braviary, Growlithe, Zorua, Zoroark, and Voltorb.
Pokémon can be captured by throwing Pokéballs. However, some Pokémon will flee or attempt to attack. Pokémon Battles will feature an order-of-action combat system, in which a Pokémon’s attack order will depend on its speed stat and movement. Pokémon can use movements in two different styles: strong style, which favors power over speed; and an agile style, which favors quick turns over force.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus will present a more open 3D style reminiscent of the wild area in the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield Games. The story will also involve the mythical Pokémon Arceus. Starter Pokémon include Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawatt. The cover (pictured right) depicts Mount Coronet and the bygone region of Sinnoh.
